Artist Statement:

The Soloveiko Songbird known as the Nightingale in English, is the national bird of Ukraine, it is a symbol of song and happiness. Soloveiko Songbirds from different regions of Ukraine are traveling to Grand Rapids to contribute their song to the audiences at World of Winter. The public are invited to find the Soloveiko Songbirds to discover the different songs and stories each nightingale has come to share about their homeland. Each Soloveiko has an interactive push button, when the public press the push button the unique soloveiko song can be heard.

Soloveiko Songbird celebrates the spirit of song, color, and community that unites us all.

Artist Bio

Amigo & Amigo founded by Simone Chua in 2012 With Art Director Adela Lines- is a Sydney, Shanghai and Las Vegas based artist studio with an extensive background in sculpture and Industrial Design. Passionate about lighting and experimental forms, our body of work showcases our ability to use light and materials to transform spaces and engage the public. Ever important to be playful, engaging, and inclusive. Our desire, creativity, and technical proficiency, has led our projects to become larger in scale and technical complexity. Our artistic vision is to continuously explore the transformation of environments into memorable experiences, inviting real audience interaction with the work. Anton Dehtiarov is a music composer and electronic music sound producer from Kyiv. They’ve graduated from Kyiv National Music Academy as a piano and organ performer. I’ve started composing my own music in 2013. Since then they’ve released 4 full-length albums and 3 EP’s (as Ptakh), 1 LP and 1 EP as a member of Ptakh_Jung duo. They were also lucky to compose music for 6 full-length feature films and documentaries and 4 short films. They prefers to describe their music as a blend of academic harmonies with techno approach.

Svitlana Reinish aka Reinish, is a Ukrainian media artist, art director, animator and theatre designer. She creates projection mapping artworks, visuals for theatre performances, and classical music concerts. Svitlana performs as a VJ and participates in light and music festivals worldwide. Having a fundamental classical art education, Svitlana uses the acquired knowledge in her work with new media, bringing the aesthetics of fine art into the digital world.
