Messie, the Grand River Monster, was an inflatable installation known for her swaying tentacles. This purple river creature featured 14-foot-long tentacles and made her home in the Grand River. Mischievous by nature, she was known to sneak into buildings in downtown Grand Rapids. Messie delighted in dining out, swimming along the riverwalk, and enjoying music. On days when the weather suited her, visitors could see her sway and dance along the river.
