A Rainbow of Isotopes was an animated neon installation, inspired by the newly opened Facility for Rare Isotope Beams at Michigan State University, one of the world’s most powerful particle accelerators. At the facility, scientists explored fundamental questions about nuclear structure, the origins of elements in the cosmos, and the forces that shaped the universe.

Kacie Lees is an interdisciplinary artist and professor based in Brooklyn, New York. Lees’ vivid works examine affective qualities of light and tertiary spaces. Lees received her BFA (2008) from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, IL, and her MFA (2012) from the School of Visual Arts in New York.
