Snails are often viewed as messengers, symbolizing patience, perseverance and protection. Despite their slow pace, they move ahead consistently, undeterred by obstacles. Slow Motion is a painted steel sculpture grouping of 4 abstracted snails that stroll together over the Blue Bridge.

Artist Bio

Valerie Wahna is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, who blends her fine arts background with corporate experience. After earning a degree in printmaking, she worked in retail design and advertising, and has taught at Kent State University. Now focused on public art, Valerie leads VW Design Studio, collaborating with a small team on creative projects. She has exhibited in solo and group shows regionally and actively contributes to the public art scene.
